Meet Rebecca Kaasa Belenky

Rebecca Belenky, Birth Doula in Los Angeles

Finding the right doula is a big decision.

Birth is one of the most intimate and powerful experiences of your life. I get it— it’s natural to wonder what inviting a stranger into that space may be like. You want someone who understands you, who you feel comfortable around, and who will truly honor your wishes.

My role as your doula isn’t to tell you how your birth “should” look or bring an agenda. It’s about listening, respecting your choices, and offering steady encouragement so you feel confident and cared for. With thoughtful support, my goal is for you to feel empowered and fully present in this beautiful process.

I hold certifications in birth and postpartum doula work (DONA), childbirth education (DTI), and lactation education (Breastfeed LA), with additional training in Spinning Babies with Gail Tully, Rebozo techniques with Naoli Vinaver, and Hypnobirthing. I also completed 2 formal apprenticeships with Britta Bushnell, LA childbirth educator and author of “Transformed By Birth.”

Let’s have a phone conversation to see if we are a good fit!

My Philosophy of doula support

I hope my clients’ birthing experiences include the confidence to advocate for themselves, to experience their body and baby in an affirming way, and have a meaningful transformation into the role of mother or father, parent, family.

Rebecca Belenky birth doula services NELA

Working with families through pregnancy and postpartum is one of the most gratifying parts of my life.

I came to doula work after having my first child, and it has been deeply rewarding to share the knowledge that supported me on my own mothering journey — and to help my doula clients discover their own unique touchstones.

After eight years in solo practice, I co-founded Birth Alchemy Doula Collective, collaborating with other Los Angeles doulas to support families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. In 2025, I returned to my independent solo practice, Los Angeles Birth, where I continue serving families throughout Los Angeles and Pasadena.

Since 2014, I have supported hundreds of Los Angeles families through hospital births, birth center births, home births, VBACs, inductions, and cesarean births. My work draws from years of hands-on experience, continuing education, and a deep respect for each family's unique values and goals.

What I’ve learned from years of education and experience in birth work is to hold a deep appreciation for the multiplicity of this profound life experience. There is no one-size-fits-all path to birth or parenting. Each of us brings our own lived experience, family history, and expectations, so of course, every journey will look a little different and be uniquely your own.

Ideas That I ReturnTo

One

I believe that choices in birth are rarely black or white.

Two

Perfection is a myth and the status quo deserves to be challanged.

Three

We need community and supportive people around us.

My passion for birth work sprang from my own childbearing experience.

Being cared for by a midwife opened up a world of possibilities — I was given information, trusted to make choices aligned with my values, and felt truly respected. That thoughtful care was life-changing, helping me embrace parenthood with autonomy and intuition.

With my second child, and even now as both of my kids have moved into elementary school, I continue to learn and grow as a parent — always returning to those early lessons about respect, critical thinking, and trusting myself.
