Personalized birth preparation

Private Childbirth Classes in Los Angeles

Pregnancy comes with no shortage of information. Books, podcasts, social media, birth classes, providers, friends, and family all seem to have opinions about what labor and birth should look like.

Most expecting parents don't need more information—they need help making sense of it.

What deserves your attention? What questions should you ask? How do you make decisions that align with your values, goals, and vision for birth?

My private childbirth education sessions are designed to slow things down and create space for thoughtful preparation. Together, we'll explore topics such as labor and birth, comfort measures, lactation, postpartum planning, newborn care, and the choices available to you throughout the childbearing year.

As a birth doula, postpartum doula, lactation educator, and childbirth educator since 2014, I bring evidence-based information, practical experience, and a deep respect for each family's unique path.

My role isn't to tell you what to do. My role is to help you understand your options, answer your questions, and support you as you step into the seat of the parent, where you can approach birth feeling informed, grounded, and confident in your decisions.

Birth & Lactation Class FAQs

When should we schedule our Private Childbirth Prep Sessions?

We’ll start our in-person sessions in your third trimester, working around your schedule and focusing on what’s important to you. Ideally, we’ll complete our sessions by weeks 36–37 of your pregnancy so you feel prepared before labor begins.

What makes your classes different from hospital-based classes or online courses?

Private birth sessions allow us to focus entirely on you and your unique situation. Instead of spending time in a large group setting or following a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

Hospital classes often prepare individuals to be patients, providing general information in a group setting. Online courses can be helpful, but may not reflect your specific hospital or care team’s practices. Since routines and policies vary between hospitals, OBs, and midwives, this can leave gaps.

As an experienced doula with over a decade of experience, I bring real-world, up-to-date insights drawn from hundreds of births. My goal is to help you feel prepared, confident, and empowered for your birth—not just any birth.

I am planning on getting an epidural. Do I really need to take a class?

That’s completely your choice! But an epidural is just one piece of the bigger picture. Birth education goes beyond pain management—it’s about understanding how labor unfolds, what positions help with fetal descent, and how to advocate for yourselves with your care team.

Our birth sessions also focus on building connection and support with your partner. When your partner feels confident and knows how to participate meaningfully, it makes your birth experience feel more supported, connected, and positive—regardless of whether you choose to have an epidural.

I am giving birth at home. Does that change how you prepare someone for labor and birth?

Yes—home birth has its own unique considerations. My sessions will help you think through how to create a supportive environment at home and prepare for the labor flow in that setting, so you feel ready for the experience you’ve chosen.
