Postpartum Doula in Pasadena & Los Angeles

Bringing a baby home is beautiful — and it can also feel exhausting, anxiety-provoking, and raise many questions.

As a postpartum doula serving Pasadena and Los Angeles, I provide practical and emotional support during the early weeks after birth.

Whether you need help with newborn feeding, postpartum recovery, meal preparation, rest, or simply someone experienced to process this huge life transition, my goal is to help your family feel supported and confident as you adjust to life with a new baby.

Meet Rebecca Belenky

Since 2014, I have supported hundreds of Los Angeles families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery as a birth doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and lactation educator.

What Does a Postpartum Doula Do?

As a postpartum doula, I offer both emotional and practical support, tailored to your family’s needs.

Sometimes that looks like a calm presence and reassurance around feeding or lactation. Other times it’s preparing nourishing postpartum meals ( I call myself a “cooking doula!), straightening the kitchen, holding your baby so you can nap, or simply being there to listen when things feel hard or confusing.

My postpartum doula support may also include tidying up, laundry, meal planning, creating feeding or pumping plans, helping with pets, and taking out the recycling or trash.

My role is to ease some of the household burdens so you can rest, recover, and focus on bonding with your baby.

Postpartum is a tender and transformative time. With the right care and encouragement, you don’t just have to “get through” those first weeks; you can feel truly supported as you grow into parenthood.

Client Testimonials

“The best gift I gave myself in my birth was hiring Rebecca as my postpartum doula.

Rebecca provided me with so much emotional support. She answered my endless questions as a first-time parent and helped instill in me a sense of confidence in my own intuition. She helped me process this radical change of becoming a parent and my birth experience. We had such meaningful and fulfilling conversations during this tender time. I cannot imagine a better person than Rebecca to have in your corner in the birthing process. She has a gift for this important work.”

Postpartum Doula Support FAQs

Where do you provide postpartum doula support?

I primarily serve Pasadena, South Pasadena, Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Altadena, Glendale, Silver Lake, Mt. Washington, and surrounding Los Angeles communities. If you're unsure whether you're within my service area, please reach out.

When should I hire a postpartum doula?

Many families hire a postpartum doula during pregnancy, so support is already in place once their baby arrives. However, it's never too late to reach out. Some families contact me before birth, while others realize after their baby arrives that extra support would be helpful.

I plan to have family and friends around. Do I still need a postpartum doula?

Maybe yes, maybe no. Family and friends can be an incredible resource. At the same time, those relationships often come with their own expectations, opinions, and dynamics.

A postpartum doula offers a different kind of support. I show up focused entirely on you and your family. I listen, answer questions, share evidence-based information, prepare nourishing meals, and help with the practical things that make life easier in those early weeks. Think of me as an extra layer of calm, consistent support that complements the love and care you already have around you.

What is your specialty as a Postpartum Doula?

My specialty is cooking on my postpartum visits! I love to cook for my clients. I am a believer that the hardest days are made much better with some good food and a nap. Food and naps can be magic for parents (and babies). One of my past clients wrote a piece for Bon Appétit featuring a go-to postpartum recipe of mine. I have some blog posts featuring client favorites, such as Energy Balls for Labor and Postpartum and Creamy Orange Soup for Postpartum Recovery.

Can you help me with breastfeeding?

Absolutely! A lot of my care focuses on lactation and helping you figure out how it all works and how to find a feeding rhythm that works for your family. I am a Certified Lactation Educator through BreastfeedLA, so I am qualified to support normal breastfeeding concerns. If any complicated feeding challenges arise, we would contact an LA-area IBCLC for more support.

What is the difference between a postpartum doula and a nanny/night nurse?

A nanny or night nurse primarily cares for the baby. A postpartum doula supports the whole family — caring for parents, offering education and encouragement, and easing household responsibilities so recovery and bonding can happen more smoothly.

What if I’m not sure how much postpartum support I’ll need after birth?

It’s common not to know exactly what you’ll need postpartum before your baby arrives. We can make a flexible postpartum support plan — you don’t have to commit to a long schedule up front. Sometimes, even a few home visits in the first few weeks make a big difference. I am always open to adding visits if my schedule permits.
