Feel Empowered, Calm, and Deeply Supported Through Birth and Postpartum

Birth is a Rite of Passage, and you deserve to be honored through it.

However many parents-to-be feel overwhelmed, scared, or anxious about all of the changes to come. On top of that there are so many sources of information telling you what you should be doing. But what is it that is truly important to you? What is it that you really want from your birth experience? You deserve more than rushed appointments, generic cookie cutter advice, or the status quo solutions.

You deserve someone who will walk alongside you, who sees you — and honors your unique vision for your birth. Someone who takes you and your partner in as a whole people, offers a non-judgmental listening ear, and trusts that with thoughtful support you are capable of finding your own meaningful path toward a positive birth experience.

My Mission and Goal as a doula

Birth, parenting and new siblings can be messy and emotional transitions for everyone who is a part of it.

As a birth and postpartum doula my desire is to be a calming and grounding presence through all of the ups and downs of the journey, and help families find their best path forward.

There is so little black and white in life, but our culture presents so many choices as only good or bad, dangerous or safe. I enjoy getting beyond that simple way of looking at the world.

The conversations that I have with clients around birth and parenting are complicated, multi-layered and nuanced. So often a person’s values and previous life experience offer great value in navigating this big experience in their lives. They actually carry a lot more wisdom and knowledge than they think.

I believe that my doula clients are the experts in their own lives so I focus on offering compassionate, thoughtful care that is individualized to their needs and priorities. I trust that with information and the right support they are capable of finding their best way forward

Certifications & Accreditations

“Our labor and delivery was such a positive, empowering experience, and we attribute so much of that to our birth team. Rebecca was truly the perfect energy to have by our side — calm, grounded, and intuitive. She supported me physically through contractions with movement and positioning, and emotionally by helping us advocate for ourselves and make decisions we felt good about every step of the way.

We are so inspired by our birth and will carry this experience with us always.”

“I worked with Rebecca as my birth and postpartum doula and could not imagine going through these periods in my life without her. She was a constant source of knowledge, empowerment, and calm. During my birth she was incredibly present when I needed it but also less visible when I needed space. She was an effective advocate with my OB and the nursing staff and asked helpful questions to ensure I got the best care. Postpartum, she was a lifesaver in terms of thinking through breastfeeding and helping my husband and I get into a bit of a routine. I cannot recommend her enough!”

“At the hospital, Rebecca struck an incredible balance between advocating doggedly for my wife and providing gentle, caring, emotional support. Her skills transformed our birthing experience and I cannot recommend her highly enough.”

“I couldn't have made a better choice in working with Rebecca. Rebecca's warmth and obvious passion for what she does carried me from pregnancy through postpartum. I'll be honest... I didn't really need any other resources. She was everything to me and my husband and also made me feel so safe and calm during the delivery of my son. I cannot recommend her highly enough!”

SOUND FAMILIAR?

You may be thinking…

There is so much advice offered up to parents, endless SHOULDs, and “do this-not thats.” I offer doula support to families who are looking to forge their own paths, to tap into their own intuition and lead their family down a unique path that aligns with their values.

  • That’s very normal! I talk with many expectant parents who are not quite sure how this all works, and it makes perfect sense! You have not worked with a doula before. The one sentence answer is doulas offer physical, emotional, and informational support through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

  • Doulas offer a unique support role that can be different than what home birth midwives offer. Check out my blog post about this very topic.

  • I try not to SHOULD people much... If you are feeling like you are looking for MORE from the experience, a doula might be just the thing for you! If you are a curious, thoughtful, and intentional person, doulas can offer meaningful support that goes beyond status quo pregnancy care.

  • I believe the most important people in the birth room are the parents who are welcoming their baby. I am happy being the “third wheel” in my role as your doula. I am there when you need some wisdom to normalize the twisty turny experience of labor, or when you need a nap or some food. I am focused on the intricacies of labor support, so partners can let go of some worries and really commit to being present for their partner and eventually their baby!

I firmly believe that doulas offer something different than partners, so there is no chance of “replacement”.
